The Skipton-based IT support and IT solutions company Skipton Systems has joined forces with local charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) to support the long term well-being of the Yorkshire Dales.

Skipton Systems offer a range of IT and web services and solutions, including IT support packages for businesses which provide comprehensive maintenance of all the critical parts of your IT system.

Now the company is teaming up with YDMT to dedicate one new native broadleaf tree in the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) for every client taking out a new 12 month ‘BusinessCover’ support contract.

YDMT has planted more than 1 million native broadleaf trees in the Dales, creating recreational areas for people to enjoy, habitats for animals and birds, and helping to absorb Carbon.

Harrison’s Wood is the charity’s newest Supporter Woodland, situated in the beautiful Nidderdale countryside near Pateley Bridge. Covering 6.3 hectares, the site has been planted with a mixture of native species including large proportions of Hawthorn (15%), Ash (12%) and Downy Birch (10%). In total, 6750 trees were planted on the site last winter and each tree is now ready to be dedicated as a gift or memorial.

Richard Pettifer, Director of Skipton Systems commented, “We are proud to be based in Skipton; the Gateway to the Dales, and we are keen to do our bit in keeping this wonderful landscape as beautiful as possible. Our partnership with the Trust will enable us – and our clients - to make a real difference to the future of the area. I hope that we will be planting many trees together with the Trust over the coming months.”

David Sharrod, YDMT Director, commented “We are thrilled to be working with Skipton Systems on this new partnership. Now local businesses will not only be able to benefit from the expertise and technical knowledge of Richard and the team, but they will also have a tree dedicated to them as a thank you. Each and every new tree planted will make a real difference to the landscape and environment of the Dales for the next generation.”

David added, “We will look forward to inviting Skipton Systems and their clients to join us next year to see the progress of the trees and the new woodland that they have helped to fund and make possible.”
