Dales Woodland Restoration

This project involved felling a small conifer plantation of around 35 years in age and replanting the site with native broadleaf trees.

In addition, a further strip of woodland was planted in order to connect this to an ancient woodland close by. The existing woodland also contained some softwood species which were removed and replaced with additional native broadleaf trees which should also encourage re-generation. This woodland is of historical interest as it contains hut circles and enclosures, and has been used for charcoal burning and coppicing in the past.
