Sustainable Development Fund (SDF)

Open Country is a registered charity with over 20 years experience in successfully organising and leading countryside activities for people with disabilities. It offers information, training and advice to organisations wanting to provide better access to the countryside.

Open Country applied to SDF for support in putting together a free, web-based 'Break Free' pack with accessible walks and cycle routes along the River Wharfe aimed at encouraging people with disabilities to visit the National Park. Eight routes have been designed, five of which lie within the National Park. This web-based resource brings many advantages - enabling Open Country to update walk details quickly and without any cost, as well as being more accessible for accommodation providers and residential centres.
