Calm Slate Farm is the home of Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream. The woodland is split over five areas and covers approximately 4.5 hectares in total and is planted with over 7,300 native broadleaf trees and shrubs. The site contains Ash, Oak, Hawthorn, Wild Cherry, Hazel, Birch and Rowan.

Access and directions

Of the five sites, three are close to the farm itself and can be seen from the Ice Cream Parlour (whilst enjoying an ice cream!). The other two sites can be viewed from Moor Lane which is a public footpath adjacent to both sites. To get to the footpath go through Eastby on the Barden Road into the Yorkshire Dales National Park for approximately 1 mile to a cattle grid, just beyond this point the footpath crosses the road and there is a large parking space on the right hand side, the wood is just below this spot and can be seen by following the footpath.

PLEASE NOTE: The woodland is situated on private land - perimeter access only is allowed.
