Scything - Improvers

A course aimed at those who wish to improve their scything skills.

About the course
Course leader Steve Tomlin has over 10 years experience of mowing and over 6 years of teaching experience. This training course will enable you to learn the necessary skills under expert tuition and will leave you confident to scythe efficiently and safely.
The course will build on basic skills to include:
- Fine tuning your scythe set up
- Improving your mowing style
- Scything tough vegetation
- Mowing around trees
- Getting you blade sharper in the field
- Peening clinic
You will have the opportunity on the day to purchase the scythe kit, which you have set up and worked with. Steve Tomlin first learnt to scythe in the Pyrenees in 2001 and was instantly hooked! He is a founding member and training coordinator for the Scythe Association and has spent time in Europe working with scythe experts. In addition to running courses in mowing and peening, Steve is also an instructor for new scythe teachers and is currently recognised as the leading scythe teacher in the UK and author of the book ‘Learn to Scythe’.
