Harrogate outdoor adventure specialist TeamWalking has been working with us since 2006 to create new native woodlands in the Yorkshire Dales.

Walking for woodlands

TeamWalking dedicates a tree for every business client that comes to the Yorkshire Dales to take part in its corporate walk activities. Enabling businesses that have enjoyed a visit to the Dales to give something back – a new native broadleaf tree. Each TeamWalking client receives a certificate and pack to confirm where their tree has been planted and an invitation to visit the woodland.

Mark Reid, owner or TeamWalking, said:

“I’ve been walking in the Yorkshire Dales for the past 20 years, first of all researching and writing my ‘Inn Way’ guidebooks, and then for the last 10 years taking individuals and groups out on guided hill walks. In that time I’ve covered 15,000 miles of paths and taken over 6,000 people out walking, and it is such a privilege to be able to share this beauty with the people I take out. But I firmly believe that everyone who enjoys the Dales should give a little back to help maintain this treasured landscape for future generations. So, for every corporate client I take out onto the hills, I plant a native tree in the Yorkshire Dales on their behalf.”

Dales woodland restoration

The TeamWalking tree scheme supports the Dales Woodland Restoration Programme. The programme aims to double the amount of broadleaf woodland in the Dales by 2020.

Mark has also visited the woodlands to plant several trees himself with a client. We hope clients of TeamWalking will come back to the Dales to visit these trees as they grow into thriving woodland habitats in years to come. Read about it here.
