Dales Climate Champions

Could you be a Dales Climate Champion? We're looking for people who can help raise awareness about climate change in their communities and inspire people to take action.

About Dales Climate Champions

The Dales Climate Champions project will train 15 volunteer community champions to deliver low carbon messages in their own communities and villages in the Dales, to understand behavioural change and give strength to the climate change message, starting from a basic level of knowledge.

  • Climate change and carbon footprints;
  • Social equity and strategy for communicating climate change action;
  • Actions at individual or business level as appropriate.

This project has been funded by the National Lottery Together for Our Planet fund which is a new £2.5m fund to help people to respond to the climate crisis in their local communities across the UK.

How can I get involved?

We're now recruiting 15 people in Richmondshire and Craven to become Climate Champions, to engage with your own communities in the Dales about the climate crisis.

You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience, we'll provide free online training, where you'll learn how to plan and deliver activities to engage with your community. We've teamed up with Speak Carbon to help you learn about climate science and solutions with free Climate Literacy training covering three core themes...

Learn the basics about why the world is heating up.

Look at the effects of this warming, now and in the future.

Gain the skills, knowledge and confidence not only to take action on reducing you own emissions, but also to talk to others meaningfully and persuasively about the climate crisis.

You'll get full support on how you can take this forward to your own communities or groups, and you'll have chance to join a valuable support network.
