Environmental Apprenticeships

An Environmental Apprenticeship is a life-changing opportunity – providing careers for young people who want to live & work in the Yorkshire Dales and ensuring that there are future generations of expertly trained people to manage this special landscape.

Seven of our current Apprenticeships are provided through the Green Futures, our youth environmental programme. Green Futures is part of Our Bright Future, a £33 million programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund and run by a consortium of eight organisations which is led by The Wildlife Trusts.

A further two placements are part of Stories in Stone Landscape Partnership scheme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Prince's Countryside Fund. Both programmes are led by YDMT.

Donations from individuals and organisations has also been vital to help fund a range of specialist certified training courses for the apprentices, from emergency first aid to chainsaw qualifications.

We’d like to say a special thanks to the David Brooke Charity for their donation of £4,000.
