Haytime Rescue brings communities together in the Forest of Bowland to help enhance wildflower meadow habitats and support the bees and wildlife they are home to.
Haytime Rescue is a partnership project run by Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and supported by funding from the Lancashire Environmental Fund.
Since 2006 YDMT and the Forest of Bowland AONB have reintroduced wildflowers to more than 700 hectares of degraded meadows across the region, making important strides to safeguard meadows and the hundreds of species of native wildlife that they are home to. Royal Botanical Gardens
Haytime Rescue is supported by the Millennium Seed Bank at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, who have offered to store a 'Bowland meadow seed mix' for posterity, and to grow plants from this for future seed harvesting for the Bowland area.
