People and the DALES
People and the DALES is an award-winning project that provides life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged people from urban areas to access and experience the Yorkshire Dales countryside, often for the first time.
It’s amazing to see the difference a day in the countryside can make. People and the DALES provides important opportunities for people to experience something new and positive in the Yorkshire Dales. We also hope to inspire the groups we work with to spend more time in green spaces – whether it’s back at home or in the Yorkshire Dales.
Planning a trip to the Yorkshire Dales
If you’re planning to visit the Yorkshire Dales on your own or with a group there are lots of things you can do to help everyone have a happy and fun day out.
Visit peopleandthedales.org for information about planning your visit, keeping safe, things to do and places to go. The website also features walk guides for routes that are popular with our People and the DALES groups.
If you’re part of a community group and want to find out more about taking part in People and the DALES activities please contact Judy Rogers, People and the DALES Community Officer email: email@example.com or call 015242 51002.
Help us give more disadvantaged people a chance to enjoy the Dales
It’s thanks to the generosity of many individuals and organisations whose donations, funding and support has enabled People and the DALES to continue. It has meant we have now reached over 8,000 disadvantaged adults and children who would not normally get the chance to visit the Yorkshire Dales. These experiences can be life-changing - giving hope, helping forge new friendships, teaching new skills and much, much more.
In 2018 the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) visited the Yorkshire Dales to discover how being in the British countryside is helping to bring asylum-seekers and locals together.
Help us give more disadvantaged people a chance to enjoy the Dales. A donation of £40 could help to give a disadvantaged child a day out to remember in the countryside.
