Our partnership with Xiros supports their mission to be ‘a company in the heart of Yorkshire with people at its heart’ - helping some of the most disadvantaged communities in our area to connect with nature in the Dales.
Making a positive difference to the world
Leeds based medical device manufacturing company Xiros is supporting YDMT to help plant new trees and provide disadvantaged individuals with visits to the countryside.
Xiros is proud to be ‘a company in the heart of Yorkshire with people at its heart’. Their ultimate goal is to make a positive difference to the world, both through their business ventures and through not-for-profit activities. They strive to improve quality of life for all who are affected by our organization; be it the patients whose injuries are repaired by having their devices implanted, employees and their families, or members of the local communities which benefit from their altruistic endeavours. They are deeply committed to helping those in need.
100 people from some of the most deprived communties surrounding the Yorkshire Dales have benefitted from day visits to the countryside thanks to their support. People taking part include those with a disability, young people from inner cities, people with mental health difficulties and refugee and asylum seekers. The visits enable them to learn about nature and benefit from spending time in the Yorkshire Dales - taking part in activities like walks, lambing, tree planting, conservation work and training.
Employees from Xiros came along to one of our People and the DALES lambing sessions with farmer Rodney and YDMT's Outreach Officer Judy at Ribblehead. This was a great chance for a small team to get out and spend time together away from the office, experience the countryside and farming in the Dales, see the kind of work that their donations help to support, and of course cuddle some lambs!
As part of this partnership, we've also run a 'Well-Being Walk' for a small group from Xiros. 8 members of staff joined Sarah and Mike for a walk around Scar House Reservoir, taking in the stunning views of Nidderdale and of the tree planting we have done there at Woodale Wood. This was a great opportunity to enjoy some time outdoors, learn a little more about the work of YDMT and our woodland creation projects.
