Youth Development Officer
£30,305-£33,146 | Full-time 35 hours per week (part time at four days per week will be considered) | Based at our offices in Clapham, near Settle, with a mix of office and home working. Work will be delivered across the Yorkshire Dales National Park and surrounding areas.
About Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust
Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) is a small charity doing big things for people, landscape and wildlife in the Yorkshire Dales.
For 27 years we have delivered diverse and inspirational projects, helping to plant 1.6 million trees and securing the future of more than 850 hectares of wildflower hay meadows, creating habitats for our wildlife and combatting climate change. We are passionate about inspiring disadvantaged groups and future generations to care for this special area.
About the role
We're looking for a Youth Development Officer to become part of our Green Futures team to provide inspirational training and career opportunities for underrepresented and marginalised young people to access the conservation sector.
Over the next three years our Green Futures programme will help an estimated 2,000 people to achieve a range of outcomes, including improved wellbeing and confidence, the development of skills to access the Dales independently and gaining qualifications and employment in the rural sector.
Together with our partners we will support organisations and individuals from our most under represented communities to independently access nature, with authenticity, integrity and compassion.
Our Green Futures pathway inspires people to connect with nature in the first instance and then helps them to develop the leadership skills they will need to influence change and improve their own life chances. Our long running Rural Apprenticeship scheme and more recently our YDMT Traineeships help to raise aspirations and break down barriers to enable young people find their dream job in the environment sector. We also have ambitions to support more young people to become ambassadors for YDMT.
This role will help to deliver and support the development of YDMT’s Green Futures strategy.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about our work and able to build strong relationships with young people and our partners. You should be able to demonstrate experience of supporting young people from marginalised backgrounds or those struggling in education to move into employment or further education. More important is your ability to work within our culture – which means being creative, caring, honest and enabling.
We believe the role of Youth Development Officer with YDMT will be a highly rewarding one, and a great opportunity for someone to develop their skills in a fantastic organisation whilst benefiting this wonderful area and its communities.
