Parlour Barn Wood is located in the Nidderdale National Landscape near Thornthwaite and covers 7.4 hectares. The site is planted with approximately 7,125 native broadleaf trees and shrubs. Species include a mix of Ash, Oak, Birch, Downy Birch, Bird Cherry, Rowan, Alder, Willow, Hawthorn, Holly and Blackthorn, complimenting the existing woodland cover in the local area.
The trees have been individually protected with tree guards to prevent rabbit damage.
Tree cover was extended in 2011-2013 when a further 6000 trees across 6 hectares were planted at nearby Harrison’s Wood. Additional planting in 2023-24 will create a varied age structure for the woodlands, enhancing the biodiversity of the site and making it more resilient
