Woodland Creation talk
This webinar provides a basic introduction to woodland creation, following the key principles of the UK Forestry Standard. Introductions to the key issues of soils, moisture regimes, water, site and species selection, design, pests and diseases, climate resilience and after care is also covered.
Will Richardson is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and has a Master’s degree in Forest Management. He has worked in the forest industry for over twenty-five years in both the public and private sectors, and is currently involved in the management of a diverse portfolio of forest types. He is an advisor under both the Woodland Trust MOREwoods and Forestry Commission Woods for Water initiatives. Will is a Lantra Awards approved instructor and was responsible for the development and accreditation of the Lantra Awards accredited Forestry and Climate Change course.
This workshop was delivered as part of YDMT's Together for Trees project, which is bringing people together to create new native woodlands, hedgerows and landscape trees in the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale.
