Cooper King Distillery
YDMT's partnership with Cooper King grew from Chris and Abbie’s desire to build a business based on sustainability. As part of this aim Cooper King support our work to plant native broadleaf trees across the Yorkshire Dales. Helping to create wildlife habitats, reduce flooding and promote health and wellbeing.
Yorkshire's green distillery
Cooper King Distillery was established in 2016 by co-founders Chris Jaume, a chartered architect and Dr Abbie Neilson, a former scientist. It is a self-built family-owned venture, producing award-winning sustainable spirits underpinned by craftsmanship, honesty and adventure.
As part of their aim to be a sustainable business, Cooper King partnered with YDMT in May 2018 to ensure that every bottle of Cooper King gin sold supports the planting of native broadleaf woodlands across the Yorkshire Dales, helping to create vibrant wildlife habitats, reduce flooding and creating beautiful places that promote health and wellbeing. Their contribution supports our Together for Trees campaign to plant 100,000 trees.
Celebrating one year together for trees
Cooper King exceeded their original aim of planting 400 new trees in the first year of our partnership, donating a fantastic £4,630 which supported the planting of 460 new trees.
Chris and Abbie and their team have joined us at tree-planting events, sharing their story along the way on the Cooper King blog, social media and in press releases. They also share their tree-planting aims with their customers – on every bottle of Cooper King gin you’ll find a label about how they’re helping the planet and working with YDMT to do so.
